Edu has taken to social media for the first time since he surprisingly quit his position as Arsenal Sporting Director.
Arsenal announced the 46-year-old’s resignation on Tuesday (November 4), ending his five-year tenure at the club, where he initially served as Technical Director before being promoted to Sporting Director in 2022.
The Brazillian impressed in the role, helping the North London club secure the signings of key players such as Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and David Raya, turning Arsenal from perennial top-four contenders to bonafide title challengers.
Edu will now take six months of gardening leave before taking charge of Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club group.
Arsenal reeling from shock Edu departure
It’s been a frustrating start to the Premier League season for Arsenal, with two defeats in their last three league games, they’ve fallen out of the Champions League spots.
With Chelsea up next at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (November 10) their title challenge could be over before it even began.
Arteta has lost one of his biggest allies in Edu, who has taken to Instagram for the first time since his departure, re-posting a video promoting Brazilian musicians in London.
There is some good news for Arsenal, however, captain Martin Odegaard could be in line to make his first Premier League start since August on Sunday after his one-minute cameo in their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Inter Milan on Wednesday (November 6).
After struggling for creativity without him, Arteta’s side will be hoping the Norwegian can produce some magic to keep them in the race for the Premier League title.
In other news, Arsenal want to sign striker who’s ‘one of best in the world’.
