Hamza Igamane will pen a four-year contract with Rangers with the option to extend his stay at Ibrox by a further year, according to The Fourth Official.

The outlet reported on its Patreon page on Tuesday (2 July) that the deal to bring the striker to Glasgow has been held up by a visa issue, however, he will join Philippe Clement’s side this summer.

Rangers will pay an initial fee in the region of £1.5million for his services, but that fee could potentially rise in the future as some additional performance-related bonuses have been included in the transfer.

Initial reports had suggested the 21-year-old would put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Clement’s Gers [The Fourth Official, 20 June] before it had been reported that he would sign a five-year deal upfront [beIN Sports, 22 June].

When will Rangers announce the signing of Hamza Igamane in summer transfer window?

While the signing of Igamane is a bit of a gamble for the Gers given the lack of knowledge around his ability, it is good to see that the club are doing what it can to ensure they keep him in Glasgow for the long haul.

If he is a success, they have a striker on their books for the next five years and if he doesn’t hit the heights expected of him, they won’t be lumbered with him for too long. Either way, this feels like a win-win for the Light Blues.

On top of that, this contract clause will maximise the player’s value if other teams come knocking in future transfer windows. With multiple years left on his contract, Rangers can demand a reasonable fee if a team looks to prize him away.

Philippe Clement is on the hunt for new players at Rangers this summer.

Hopefully, Igamane will hit the ground running in Glasgow and finally be the consistent source of goals that the Gers so desperately need. They cannot afford to go another season without a clinical forward at the top end of the field.

Whether or not Igamane is that man remains to be seen. The good news is, it doesn’t seem like it will be long until we see him playing in a Gers shirt.
