Barcelona will pursue Liverpool forward if Raphinha leaves club this summer

Barcelona have a number of targets on their shortlist this summer, some of which are more achievable than others. There does appear to be a division between more economic targets, and options that Sporting Director Deco would go for if they manage to bring in big money through sales. One of those is Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

According to MD, Diaz would be willing to join Barcelona, and would do their part to make a deal happen if the opportunity arises. Equally, with a contract until 2027, and in his prime years at 27, Liverpool spent €50m on the Colombian and will not let him go on the cheap.

He is Deco’s preferred recruit for the left wing though, and will only become a target if Raphinha leaves the club for a big offer in the summer. Formerly the Brazilian’s agent, Deco values Raphinha and will only look to pursue an upgrade on him this summer, which Diaz is considered to be.

Raphinha still has not hired an agent since Deco joined Barcelona, has three years left on his deal, and little intention of leaving Barcelona. That is something he has voiced on many occasions, and he has already shirked interest from Saudi Arabia.

Ultimately, while left wing has been a position signalled in the media as a top priority for several months, and named by President Joan Laporta as one of their targets too, unless Barcelona spend similar money to that which they spent on Raphinha, finding an upgrade looks difficult. The Brazilian incidentally has mildly better production than Diaz, scoring 20 goals and providing 25 assists in his 87 appearances, while the Liverpool star has scored 24 goals and given 13 assists in his 98 appearances at Anfield.
