BBC pundit issues Everton relegation verdict after seeing Opta Supercomputer prediction

Glenn Murray expects Everton to avoid relegation as he predicts Ipswich, Leicester City and Southampton to go back down.

The former Brighton striker was shown Opta Supercomputer’s prediction on BBC which showed that the Toffees have a 19 per cent chance of relegation, ahead of their game on 23 November against Brentford.

However, the three promoted clubs had higher chances of going down and Murray agreed with the Supercomputer.

He said: “It looks like the three that came up, unfortunately. I think they’re really going to make a good feast of it, your Southamptons, your Ipswichs, especially. I like how they’re trying to stamp their game on the Premier League.”

Everton need to go on a decent unbeaten run now

Despite their relegation chances being relatively low at 19 per cent, the margin for error in the Premier League is slim.

A string of adverse results could quickly plunge them into deeper trouble, especially with the competitive nature of the lower half of the table.

For Everton, maintaining a buffer from the relegation zone is crucial.

While the promoted sides Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton are currently pegged as more likely candidates for relegation, the Toffees’ position is still precarious.

If Sean Dyche’s side fail to string together a series of positive results, the pressure on him could intensify.

The team needs to embark on an unbeaten run to not only distance themselves from the relegation scrap but also to solidify Dyche’s position.

His pragmatic approach has kept the club afloat, but without a turnaround in form, his job could indeed come under scrutiny.
