BBC pundit shares new Sean Dyche verdict, tells Everton fans to relax

Michael Brown believes Everton fans need to “try and relax” despite their recent run of poor form as Sean Dyche is comfortable in the surroundings he finds himself in.

While Everton are no longer at the bottom of the Premier League table, they still sit in nineteenth with only one point to their name.

The Toffees welcome Crystal Palace to Goodison Park on Saturday 28 September, with pressure growing on the manager and players.

Speaking on the BBC’s Football News Show (27 September), Brown shared his verdict on what the supporters need to try and do.

“Sean Dyche understands the pressure,” he said. “He is comfortable in his surroundings, he’s got broad shoulders but the pressure is starting to mount. The supporters are grumbling, but they need to try and relax.

“I think the next two home games [against Crystal Palace and Newcastle] are key”.

Sean Dyche needs an Everton win

Sitting in the bottom three, it has been nothing short of a shocking start to the season.

While Everton haven’t been in the best form, there have been two games already where they have been leading by two goals against Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Despite losing those games, the early signs in both prove that Dyche can set his team up properly to win games at this level, it’s just about consistency again.

Pressure is mounting on Dyche [The Times, 27 September], especially with the prospect of Dan Friedkin coming in as the new owner.

Names such as Gareth Southgate have already been linked with the role and it feels like if Dyche doesn’t get a result soon he could see his Toffees stint end prematurely [GiveMeSport, 23 September].

While Brown believes fans need to relax because Dyche is “comfortable” in the situation he finds himself in, he needs to prove it, starting against Palace.
