Everton ace Jordan Pickford blew Final Score presenter Jason Mohammad away with an “unbelievable” save late in the goalless draw with West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Toffees dominated proceedings in the first half on Saturday (9 November) but were unable to find a breakthrough and were grateful to England goalkeeper Pickford a brilliant late stop from Danny Ings’ deflected effort just inside the area.

It ensured the Toffees would head into the international break with a valuable point and Mohammad was wowed by what he saw in what was otherwise a lacklustre watch at times.

The BBC Sport presenter said live on air (9 November): “Jordan Pickford has just made an unbelievable save, we’ll talk about that in a moment.”

Reporter Mark Scott, speaking about the game at full-time, would later describe the stop as “world-class”.

Jordan Pickford may have saved Everton boss Sean Dyche

It was not quite the win Sean Dyche was looking for but it at least it was not a defeat.

After a demoralising loss at Southampton last time out, the pressure was really growing on Dyche’s shoulders, despite a five-match unbeaten run prior to the setback against the Saints.

Another loss here against another side not firing on all cylinders might have seen the decision makers at Goodison Park, or indeed the future decision makers, get trigger finger and opt for a change in the dugout.

As it is, Pickford’s expertise between the posts may have saved his manager and it really was an outstanding stop – one he celebrated at full time with a deserved shake of the fists.

Everton host Brentford after the international break before a really tricky December lies in wait with Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all on the agenda in and around Santa dropping off his presents.

But for now, Dyche can breathe just a little easier thanks to his goalkeeper.

In other Everton news, one former Toffee has been mooted as possible replacement for Dyche.
