BBC Sportscene pundit hits back at what Rangers star did to fans, says he can not do that

Cammy Bell has told Vaclav Cerny he cannot react to Rangers fans after he snapped back in the 1-0 win against Hibernian at Ibrox on 29 September.

The Czechia international disappointed in the win and was dragged off early, only to be spotted in what looked like a sweary rant at the home fans.

Bell hit back and insisted that they are entitled to their opinion, with playing at Ibrox much different to what he has experienced at Hampden Park since arriving on loan.

Speaking live on BBC Sportscene on 29 September, Bell hit back at Cerny after his reaction to the home fans ahead of his substitution.

“I don’t think you can do that here at Ibrox,” he said.

“It’s new for Cerny here at Ibrox, obviously he has been playing at Hampden. Again, the frustration from the fans, you can feel it on the pitch when you’re a player, you can’t react to it.

“You just need to get on with your game, they’ve got huge expectations which is right enough from the Rangers fans.”

Vaclav Cerny controversy at Rangers

If you lose the fans at Ibrox, you rarely last long, so hopefully, this was a one off.

It would have been understandable had Cerny been unbelievable in the game, but he was called out numerous times, with Neil McCann even labelling some of his play as “terrible”.

With the games coming thick and fast though, it was no surprise to see some of the players struggling after the huge win over Malmo last time out.

Philippe Clement made that clear as well after the game, but with Lyon coming up on Thursday 3 October, there is little time to rest.

Mohamed Diomande is already potentially missing for that one, with injuries starting to take their toll, so Cerny needs to bounce back from this blip.

His outburst does show passion, but you have to use that on the pitch and certainly not as a weapon against your own fans, which Clement likely told him straight after the incident.

In other Rangers news, a confirmed transfer window update has emerged for Clement already ahead of January.
