Bryan King has questioned what exactly has happened to Tottenham star Son Heung-min.

The ex-Spurs scout is curious to understand more details about the club captain’s injury.

Son made a scoring return from injury in the 4-1 Premier League win over West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 19 October. However, he has since missed Spurs’ past two matches.

According to Ange Postecoglou (via the Independent, 29 October), the South Korean will once again be unavailable for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (30 October).

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this is a big blow to the North London side.

“I always feel as though Spurs come off a poor performance and put in a half-decent one,” King said.

“However, after all that hype of Son returning against West Ham, he seems to be suffering again. I’d like to know exactly what that injury was, how he has aggravated it again, or if he was brought back too soon.

“This is another important game for which he is now unavailable. The Carabao Cup is certainly Spurs’ most realistic chance of winning a trophy this season. Therefore, to lose your best player is a big loss.

“However, it seems losing him, the loss is perhaps even greater.”

Not only is Son arguably Spurs’ best player, but he also has a tremendous record against Pep Guardiola’s side. As a result, his absence will certainly be felt on Wednesday evening.

However, Postecoglou cannot use this as an excuse. The North London side need a statement win.

Guardiola will likely rotate heavily for the cup clash. Therefore, if Postecoglou names a strong squad, Spurs have a good chance of winning and advancing to the fifth round of the cup.

Tottenham are desperate for some silverware, and this is arguably their greatest chance of lifting any this season. Therefore, Postecoglou needs to get his team selection spot on, with King urging the Australian to axe one midfielder.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou wants to sign a Brighton player as the Seagulls’ stance emerges.
