Oscar Cortes continued his return from injury by impressing in Rangers B’s 3-2 win against Celtic B on Tuesday night.

The Colombian suffered an injury on the opening day in the goalless draw against Hearts (3 August) and aggravated it in the 3-0 win over Dundee United in the Premier Sports Cup (21 September).

The 20-year-old has stepped up his comeback in recent weeks and started Rangers B team’s City of Glasgow Cup final against Celtic B before being taken off at half-time.

He impressed in his 45-minute cameo, with Four Lads Had A Dream taking to X to praise the young talent for his contribution to the Gers opener in the contest, saying: “Nsio for Rangers after brilliant pressing by Oscar Cortes, he wins it off the keeper & square for Nsio to finish.”

Rangers keen on Cortes deal despite injury woes

The Gers are set to secure a permanent deal for the loanee according to ESPN journalist Julian Capera [13 December].

Philippe Clement must be satisfied with what he seen on the training pitch and in his time with the Light Blues so far if he is willing to sanction a £4 million transfer.

His injury issues must not be as bad as first feared if the club would be willing to spend a huge sum on the winger.

Clement must be careful not to rush the young talent back into first-team action and ensure that he is able to put the issues behind him.

To be fair, it seems like that is exactly what the Gers are doing and it should benefit them in the long-term if they are to keep the player.

When he is fit, he can help the Gers continue their recent upturn in form, he scored three goals in seven matches last season before injury ended his campaign.

In other Rangers news, the Gers cannot afford to lose one star player as Premier League interest emerges.
