Bundesliga's finest decisive in UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16

Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala has been one of the tournament’s stand-out players, and he got himself on the scoresheet for the third time this competition in the weather-interrupted, knockout victory over Denmark. With Germany still susceptible to a Danish equaliser, the 21-year-old pounced onto a Nico Schlotterbeck pass and carried the ball into the penalty area before firing a clinical finish beyond Kasper Schmeichel. That strike saw him move joint-top of the Euro 2024 scoring charts and, with rivals Georges Mikautadze and Ivan Schranz already eliminated, Bayern’s ace is in pole position to take home the Golden Boot.

Earlier on Saturday, Switzerland kicked off the round of 16 with a 2-0 victory against Italy. While Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka pulled the strings in midfield, it was instead Augsburg forward Rúben Vargas who was star of the show. It was his stunning strike that doubled his nation’s lead – there was nothing Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could do as it nestled into the top corner.
