The outlet reported on their website on 29 August after he accepted personal terms to head to Ewood Park that Venky’s still have to give the go ahead to complete the move.

Manager John Eustace, who threw the move into doubt earlier in the day [Lancashire Telegraph, 29 August], is hoping to get the green light from his bosses on Transfer Deadline Day.

John Eustace set to inherit Rangers man from Philippe Clement

It would be in keeping with the the drama surrounding Cantwell during his year and a half at Ibrox if there was another complication before the deadline.

But surely everyone involved in Scotland wants to get this deal done to avoid the headache that would be caused if the former Norwich man was still languishing in the B Team after the deadline, amid anger from fans.

There is no reason for Venkys not to clear the Cantwell deal since they will be getting him for a bargain fee considering his age and his contract length at Ibrox.

But with Rangers backed into a corner and facing a pay off to terminate his deal otherwise [PLZ Soccer, 26 August] even a cut-price exit is the preferred option.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement revealed during preseason that Todd Cantwell had asked to leave.

Ianis Hagi could still be in line for his contract to be voided if a solution to his situation in the B Team isn’t found soon [Daily Record, 29 August], with the Romanian on the opposite side of matters from Cantwell and wanting to stay [Sky Sports, 26 August].

Rangers’ are looking to secure a deal to bring in Sassuolo midfielder on the final day [Daily Record, 29 August] so Cantwell’s exit gong through would clear space to get it done.
