Rangers on verge of deal for top target as Deadline Day double-deal closes in - reports

Nedim Bajrami is believed to be about to agree a move to Rangers on Transfer Deadline Day, according to Football Scotland.

The outlet reported on their website on 30 August that the Sassuolo midfielder is “on the verge” of joining the Light Blues on loan on a “frantic” final day of the window.

That looks set to be the second arrival at Ibrox after 1908 in the Netherlands reported the same morning that Neraysho Kasanwirjo is on the way in on another loan, with an option to buy included.

Bajrami is believed to be the Gers top target for deadline day [Daily Record, 29 August] and is keen to join.

Ben Davies and Todd Cantwell replacements at Rangers

Philippe Clement has been stuck waiting for exits to be secured before he could attempt to finish strengthening his squad this summer.

Ben Davies has made a season-long loan move to Birmingham City, Scott Wright has followed him on a £300,000 permanent deal [Sky Sports, 29 August].

Perhaps most importantly a departure has been agreed for the controversial Todd Cantwell to join Blackburn for £500,000 [Daily Record, 29 August].

The manager will be relieved that answers have finally arrived for some of the players who’s futures at Ibrox looked bleak but has been left with barely any time to replace them.

Rangers are set to sign Feyenoord defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo.

So with Kasanwirjo the nominal replacement for Davies and Bajrami in line to fill the gap left by Cantwell it it would provide a key boost if they can both be secured before 11pm.

There has been interest in adding a third winger signing of the summer as well after Oscar Cortes and Vaclav Cerny, amid interest in Pyramids FC’s Ibrahim Adel [Daily Record, 27 August] but whether shifting Wright’s moderate contract will make much room for an arrival remains to be seen, although “at least three” new signings are thought to be on the cards for Deadline Day [4th Official, 29 August].

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues could soon terminate a high-profile contract.
