Rangers will be hopeful of Nedim Bajrami forcing through a move to Ibrox ahead of the transfer window closing at 11 pm on Friday (30 August).
Time is against Rangers if they want to get a deal over the line for Sassuolo midfielder Bajrami. As a result, they need to act fast.
As reported by the Daily Record via its print edition (page 50, 30 August), Bajrami is keen to join the Gers.
However, there is now just a matter of hours left in the summer transfer window, and there is a lot of hard work to be done to get Bajrami signed up, but not much time to operate in.
The 25-year-old is keen on a move to Ibrox after Sassuolo’s relegation to Serie B. However, Sassuolo want to keep hold of Bajrami, who is a “top target” at Ibrox, before the transfer window closes on Friday (30 August).
Rangers want to sign the Albania international on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer. Although with his current side keen to keep hold of him, the Gers will need to hope that Bajrami attempts to force through a transfer.
Rangers to sign Sassuolo midfielder Nedim Bajrami?
With Sassuolo’s stance clear, the Italian side will be in no rush to accelerate any negotiations with Rangers. That is problematic for the Glasgow giants, as they need talks to go smoothly if they are to get a deal done in the limited time which remains.
The only way that Sassuolo might consider pushing for a transfer is if Bajrami makes it clear that he wants out of the club. Therefore, Clement will be hopeful of the player putting some pressure on Sassuolo.
Clement will be keen for the Gers to add players wherever they can on deadline day, with the Rangers squad in desperate need of improvements.
With outgoings on the agenda too, it is set to be a busy day at Ibrox. However, Clement will be hopeful that by the end of the day, his squad has been strengthened, rather than weakened.
Bajrami is a player with experience in the top flight of Italian football as well as at international level. Therefore, he could prove to be a useful addition for Clement and the Gers.
In other Rangers news, a contract termination is now on the table at Ibrox.
