Bryan King has speculated that Richarlison could leave Tottenham on loan and join a club abroad in January.
The ex-Spurs scout struggles to see any clubs paying a fee for the Brazillian in the upcoming transfer window.
As reported by Give Me Sport (19 November), Tottenham are concerned that their chances of attracting a big-money offer for Richarlison have been jeopardised with the striker potentially sidelined for the rest of the year.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – agrees that Spurs are unlikely to attract a permanent offer for the 27-year-old.
“I think they should have got rid of Richarlison in the summer,” King said.
“I’ve never been happy with him as a club man. I had friends at Everton who said Richarlison had a lot of potential, but he wasn’t a good club man.
“I think he’s proven that at Tottenham because for the money he cost, and the goals he has scored, it isn’t a good return. Therefore, I can’t see anybody in England paying the kind of money Tottenham did, no chance. Perhaps he will leave the club on loan in January.
“I just can’t see any clubs offering a fee for him. I think it would have to be a loan move. However, it would probably have to be a loan abroad, but it has got to be the right deal for Tottenham. Selling him in January when he isn’t going to be fit until the new year, that won’t be easy.”
Richarlison to leave Tottenham on loan in January?
Should Spurs find a club that would agree to take Richarlison on loan in January and pay some of his wages, that could be an attractive offer. However, this is only a short-term solution.
As time goes by the signing of Richarlison is proving to be another waste of money, just as the signings of Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndomble were.
Both of those players left Spurs on loan multiple times before eventually leaving the club permanently. As a result, Spurs won’t want to repeat the same scenario with Richarlison and have been urged to sell him.
However, if there aren’t any clubs willing to sign him permanently, they might have no choice but to loan him out.
