In-form Newcastle are primed to extend West Ham’s away day woes

West Ham face a long night on Tyneside if they don’t take goals to Newcastle and will face a long winter with one eye on the Premier League relegation zone unless they start bucking up their ideas away from the East End.

Only bottom club Southampton and poor travellers Brentford have scored fewer than the five times the Hammers have found the net on their travels.

Following a win at Crystal Palace and draws with Fulham and the Bees, Julen Lopetegui’s underachievers lost 4-1 at Tottenham and 3-0 at Nottingham Forest in the top flight as well as 5-1 at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Home wins against Ipswich and Manchester United, which prompted the Old Trafford board to sack Erik Ten Hag, were followed by a dismal 0-0 draw with fellow strugglers Everton at London Stadium in the last match before the international break and the Hammers are looking over their shoulders.

Newcastle, who are in the congested mix for a top-six finish leading to a return to European football next season, have been strong at St James’ Park where they have conceded just three goals – a feat which gives them a share with Liverpool of the best defensive record in front of their own fans.

Their last two games at home have been grand efforts as they have beaten Arsenal 1-0 and Chelsea 2–0 so it is no surprise they are no better than a general 1/2 ON to pick up maximum points on Monday.

Alexander Isak has found form after a slow start in which he was on the scoreboard just once in seven games to bury the ball in the net in his last four matches.

He opened the scoring against both the Blues and the Gunners and is 19/5 with Unibet to do so again and he’s 11/10 with the same firm to take his tally this season to six by scoring at any time.

Newcastle are 13/10 with Unibet to win by more than one goal and a 2-0 victory for Eddie Howe’s side is 17/2 with William Hill and bet365.
