Simon Jordan has slammed Everton owner Farhad Moshiri for his damaging role at the club.
The British-Iranian businessman has been looking to sell the Toffees but is yet to find a suitable buyer to shoulder the debt accrued.
John Textor has entered a period of exclusivity to try and seal a takeover [The Athletic] but ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan has been left unsure by the American while criticising Moshiri live on talkSPORT on 17 August (11:40am).
He said: “Textor is a smart operator. It’s whether he is the right fit for Everton. Everton needs to have a solution to the Moshiri problem. Whatever Moshiri is or isn’t, he has not been very good for Everton.
“Whether it is Moshiri’s money or it isn’t. The implications of his ownership on the football club has been that this football club has been turned into a car crash. A car crash that has spent hundreds of millions of pounds to get itself into a situation where it doesn’t even resemble what it once was before it had that kind of investment.
“The Bill Kenwright’s of the world didn’t have the financial resources to make better decisions at times so you live within your means but this man has the resources and turned it into a disadvantage.”
Farhad Moshiri slammed for Everton ownership
There is no doubt that Farhad Moshiri is to blame for the situation that the Toffees find themselves in financially.
This has been allowed to happen due to a number of different reasons but the main two being player investment and the new Bramley Moore Dock development.
As a club in recent years, Everton have conducted transfer business badly and made some real mistakes with transfer fees and wages.
There have been some exceptions with the likes of Amadou Onana who the club have managed to make a healthy profit on.
These sorts of stories have been too few and far between at Goodison with it taking some wheeling and dealing from Sean Dyche to build a squad capable of looking up the league table.
This financial distress hasn’t been helped by the building of a new stadium which has put unneeded stress on the club as a whole.
Goodison is a famous old ground, but it is old and needed some TLC but maybe a new ground could have waited until the club was stable.
