Chelsea add Nigeria-eligible striker to transfer list that has Jhon Duran

Former English Premier League champions Chelsea are monitoring Nigeria-eligible striker Samuel Omorodion in view of a transfer this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chelsea are in need of reinforcements after a disappointing campaign last season that saw them finish sixth in the Premier League. Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson was one of the reasons the Blues dropped points because of his poor form in front of goal.

This summer, the Blues have been linked with some strikers, including Victor Osimhen, who has been in good form for Napoli in the last two seasons.

However, Chelsea don’t seem to be serious in signing the 25-year-old, as with Todd Boehly in charge, they have focused on bringing in younger players. Chelsea have also been recently linked with Aston Villa youngster Jhon Duran. The deal looked like it was almost sealed at some point, but both parties still seem to have a few more details to sort out.

In a new development, per transfer market guru, Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are also interested Samu Omorodion, and could move for him this summer.

The Nigeria-eligible striker, who represents Spain international just started playing top-flight football last season, and he registered eight goals and one assist in 34 games for Alaves on loan from Atletico Madrid.

Omorodion could cost Chelsea up to $40 million, a fee that they would be willing to part with. Moreover, the 20-year-old fits the profile of players that Chelsea like.

The youngster was born to Nigerian parents in Spain, and he plays for Spain. However, he can still switch to Nigeria because he has not played for the German national team.
