Chelsea fans rage at Enzo Maresca as he drops Man United game starting XI reveal

Chelsea fans have urged Enzo Maresca to drop Robert Sanchez and give Filip Jorgensen a chance in the Premier League.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of their League Cup game against Newcastle on Wednesday (October 30), Maresca confirmed that Sanchez, 26, will remain his first-choice goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.

When asked about whether Jorgensen, 22, is close to becoming the number one, Maresca said, “No. At the moment, the number one is Robert Sanchez. Filip is doing fantastic in the Carabao Cup, the Conference League. But at the moment, there is no doubt Robert is the Number one”

The goalkeeper has played every minute of Premier League football for Chelsea so far this season but is yet to convince the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Sanchez was directly responsible for both of Brighton’s goals in Chelsea’s 4-2 win earlier in the season and struggled against Liverpool, giving away a penalty before VAR overturned the decision.

With eleven goals conceded and just two clean sheets from their opening nine league games, Maresca may have his hand forced sooner rather than later.

Since taking over in the summer, Maresca has implemented a two-squad system, favouring certain players for certain competitions.

Jorgensen, who joined from Spanish side Villareal in the summer, has established himself as Chelsea’s cup goalkeeper, impressing in games against Barrow and Panathinaikos, keeping two clean sheets in his five games.

Fans have taken to X, formally known as Twitter, to urge Maresca to give the Denmark Under-21 international a chance in their Premier League game against Man United on Sunday (November 3).
