Chelsea offer ace to PL club as Everton want transfer - report

Everton target Armando Broja was offered to Leicester as part of Chelsea’s deal to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to The Times.

The paper reported via their website on 30 June that the Albanian was one of three options put forward by the Stamford Bridge side, but amid interest from the Toffees among others he “wants to pick the right move” instead, following two difficult years of injury and a failed loan at Fulham.

Chelsea are instead expected to sell Dan Golding to the Foxes as Dewsbury-Hall comes in according to Sky Sports (30 June).

Broja has emerged as a major Toffees target this summer [Ben Jacobs, 9 June] amid uncertainty over the future of top striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Now that the Toffees have seemingly made it past the 30 June cut off for profit and sustainability calculations without losing any key men their transfer window can start in earnest now.

The sales of Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa and Ben Godfrey to Atalanta looks like it may have done the job, along with savings made behind the scenes, of avoiding a third PSR charge next season.

And with a permanent move for Iliman Ndiaye expected to be completed imminently there is clearly some scope for purchases.

It remains to be seen how much incoming business can be done without further sales, but a Broja move is unlikely to be cheap.

Everton signing Broja could rest on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

That Calvert-Lewin still hasn’t signed a contract extension and was involved in unsuccessful talks over a move to Newcastle suggests he is likely to go, with Sky Sports’ Alan Myers indicating he doesn’t expect a new deal to be agreed (24 June).

There is also reported interest in second choice striker Beto just a year after he arrived [Sabah, 17 June], and while both the Portuguese and the English strikers have undoubted quality it seems the club may be prepared to revamp their strike force after a campaign where goals were hard to come by.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have an “enormous opportunity” to hold major influence amid takeover developments.
