Chris Jack moots terms for Rangers man to complete January Ibrox exit

Chris Jack admits he would be surprised if Ridvan Yilmaz departed Rangers during the January transfer window at Ibrox.

The Turkish defender has spent much of the season so far rooted to the treatment table having picked up an injury during the Champions League qualifying clash with Dynamo Kyiv at Hampden Park.

Although Rangers Review journalist Jack doesn’t believe the left-back will be happy to be second choice behind Jefte, he thinks the Gers would only sanction his exit if they had a replacement lined up in January.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (1 October, 8:00) he said: “I would be surprised if he moved on in January unless Rangers have someone lined up to come in as a ready-made replacement.

“But you do have to have questions over his long-term place. He’s not going to be happy playing second fiddle if both of them are fit.”

Will Ridvan Yilmaz exit Rangers amid Jefte developments at Ibrox?

It is easy to forget just how good Yilmaz was under Clement last season. Having struggled under the management of Micheal Beale, the Turkish defender made the left-back position his own in the second half of the season.

Had he not picked up his injury early on in the campaign, the defender would have likely kept Jefte out of the team this term, but that knock against Kyiv has given the Brazilian the chance to show just how good he can be.

Clement cannot afford to drop the Brazilian and that is going to make regular game time hard to come by for Yilmaz and as Jack suggests, the left-back isn’t going to be keen to be second fiddle for an extended period of time.

With the games coming thick and fast, there will be plenty of opportunities for Clement to rest and rotate his squad, but he will want to remain competitive on all fronts as he looks to bring more silverware to Ibrox.

This could be one to watch in the lead-up to the summer transfer window.
