Chris Sutton expects Tottenham to dominate possession as he predicts a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Spurs are set to welcome Unai Emery’s team to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 3 November after beating Manchester City 2-1 in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup on 30 October.

Both teams are vying for a spot in the top four in the league, and while Sutton envisions plenty of goals to go in, he doesn’t see a clear winner in the game [BBC, 31 October].

“Spurs will dominate the ball this time too, but I have got no doubt that Villa will score, because they carry such a threat and their front players will definitely have their moments in this game,” he wrote.

“So, there will definitely be plenty of goals… but maybe there won’t be a winner this time – Tottenham have not had a draw since the first game of the season, and I think they will get one here.”

Tottenham and Aston Villa a massive tie

Villa have established themselves as one of the most fearsome teams in the league since Emery has taken charge at Villa Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Tottenham has seen a similar trend, with the Australian’s philosophy of playing with a high-line exciting to watch.

In terms of the head-to-head record, the Villans come out on top with three wins in the last five league fixtures against the North Londoners, but the two victories Spurs boast against the Lions have been by a 4-0 scoreline.

Recent form has seen Emery’s team slipping up, losing to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and getting a draw at home when Bournemouth faced them in the league.

Tottenham are set to face Aston Villa at home.

It remains to be seen whether Son Heung-min will be able to feature against Villa, and speaking to Villa News, Dan Bardell believes the South Korean’s absence would make the Lions’ life easier.

Timo Werner played in place of the Spurs captain against Pep Guardiola’s team, but despite his goal, it’s clear that Postecoglou’s team will miss Son.

But holding the home advantage, the Lilywhites faithful have every right to expect their team to go out and get the three points.

In other Tottenham news, John Wenham believes the club will regret releasing this youngster.
