Christian Eriksen was one of Tottenham Hotspur’s best players when he was at the club.
The Dane spent six-and-a-half years at Spurs and was a fan favourite there. He was absolutely incredible for the North Londoners and helped them get closer to winning trophies than any Tottenham side has done over the last 15 years.
Eriksen played with a number of top-class players during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dele Alli spring to mind.
However, the midfielder has revealed that one player was stronger than all of the above.
Christian Eriksen says Victor Wanyama is the strongest player ever
Tottenham signed Victor Wanyama from Southampton in the summer of 2016.
The Kenya international was brought in to provide some steel in the middle of Mauricio Pochhetino’s park, and he produced some amazing moments.
Wanyama scored an absolute screamer against Liverpool that’s still fondly remembered by Tottenham fans. He also found the net in the last-ever game at White Hart Lane.
Injuries really troubled Wanyama during his time at Spurs. In the 2018/19 season, he missed a total of 116 days of football due to multiple issues.
Finally, in March 2020, it was announced that the midfielder would leave Tottenham on a free transfer, and he moved to the MLS to play for Monreal FC.
Eriksen still remembers Wanyama’s quality.
In a video on Goal, the Dane was asked to pick his ‘ultimate baller’ by naming one player for different traits like left foot, right foot, speed, strength, skills and football IQ.
Eriksen picked obvious answers for most of the above questions. He picked David Beckham for the best right foot and Lionel Messi for the left. Neymar got the nod for skills, while Kylian Mbappe was named as the fastest.
However, to many people’s surprise, Eriksen picked Wanyama for strength, suggesting that the former Spurs man is the strongest player he has ever seen.

What has Wanyama been up to since leaving Tottenham
Wanyama played 97 games during his time at Tottenham
As we mentioned above, the Kenyan left Spurs on a free transfer in 2020 and moved to Montreal FC, and after four years, he is still there.
The now 33-year-old has played 133 games in all competitions for the Major League Soccer side, but he isn’t a regular for them anymore.
Wanyama played just 16 times last season and only seven of those appearances came from the start.
The former Tottenham midfielder’s contract at Montreal comes to an end in December 2024. It remains to be seen what he will do then.
