CL club wants to sign Everton striker Beto - Alan Myers

Everton striker Beto is drawing interest from Serie A side Bologna, according to Alan Myers.

Writing on his X account (17 July), the Sky Sports journalist says the Blues have not indicated they are willing to sell the player, with his contract running until 2027.

Bologna are in the market for a striker after the club sanctioned the sale of Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United.

The Italian side qualified for the Champions League via the European Performance Spots due to Italy’s performances in European competitions last term.

Everton are not considering selling Beto

Beto has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer, with Bologna joining Fenerbache in registering interest for the striker.

The allure of Champions League football and returning to Serie A, where he was prolific for Udinese could prove too good to resist.

Everton signed Beto from Udinese last summer and he struggled to find his feet in England scoring three times in 30 Premier League appearances.

Sean Dyche is unlikely to allow Beto to leave Goodison Park after just one season in the English top flight and the Blues are no longer in a position where they need to sell.

The Toffees sanctioned a move for Amadou Onana to join Aston Villa for £50m (BBC Sport, 13 July) and can finally comply with the Profit and Sustainability rules.

Now, Everton can hold on to Jarrad Branthwaite unless Man United meet their asking price and can begin to build a side to climb the Premier League table next season.

Beto will be at the forefront of those plans and can form a partnership with summer signing Iliman Ndiaye at the heart of the attack.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the most likely of the current Everton forwards to leave the club, his future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with his contract up in 2025.

Dyche would need a ready-made replacement should Beto push for a move away this summer, and even then Everton would look to recoup their initial investment of £25m as a minimum.
