Clement ready to bolster Rangers area, player wanted is surplus to requirements - report

Philippe Clement is ready to bolster his midfield options at Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to Football Scotland.

It is reported that despite a failed loan bid for Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan [Fabrizio Romano], the Spaniard has been told that he is surplus to requirements.

Sevilla have made it clear they are willing to do business, with Clement needing to replace the experience of John Lundstram and Ryan Jack at Ibrox.

For Clement, there’s a big desire to see some new midfield options enter the conversation at Ibrox.

The departures of Lundstram and Jack leave a hole for the Gers, and it’s one that they’re looking to fill ahead of their opening day clash with Motherwell.

Rangers finished eight points behind the pace of eventual champions and rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season, and while there’s a lot to be said for the success of the league winners, fans were upset to see Clement’s men slip to seven defeats in 38 games.

In a lot of those instances, control in the middle of the park was a real concern.

They need someone willing to take command and dictate the pace of the game. So, given Jordan’s current standing at Sevilla, you’d have to imagine he’s eager to prove himself in another European league.

This is definitely one to watch soon.
