'Completed his West Ham medical': Hammers could announce 'outstanding' signing in next 24 hours - Sky journalist

West Ham United have been a hotbed of transfer activity in recent days, and Friday night saw numerous breakthroughs take place in the space of a few hours.

The Hammers have already made three signings this summer, bringing Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman to the London Stadium.

However, the way things are going, West Ham could soon double that tally within the next few days.

Friday night saw three major updates involving Hammers targets that could soon give way to official announcements.

For instance, Sky Sport Germany’s Patrick Berger reported that West Ham had reached agreement with Borussia Dortmund over striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reported that the Hammers had booked a medical for World Cup and Copa America winner Guido Rodriguez.

Ahead of this double breakthrough, there hadn’t been much information about an attacking talent whose move to West Ham was supposed to be done and dusted.

However, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has now provided an update on that front.

Crysencio Summerville completes West Ham medical

The player in question is Crysencio Summerville, who has been closing in on a move to West Ham from Leeds United.

“Crysencio Summerville has completed his West Ham United medical,” Sheth said on Sky Sports News.

“A formal announcement of his move from Leeds United could come in the next 24 hours.

“West Ham were hopeful the deal could be done in time for him to be able to play some part in the pre-season tour of the USA.

“If not, then the player will remain in London,” concluded Sheth.

West Ham building impressive squad

The Hammers had a good squad last season, though sadly the team didn’t quite reach the heights they had reached over the past few years.

West Ham failed to quality for Europe, bringing an end to three unforgettable consecutive years of continental competition.

The Hammers opted to part company with David Moyes, brought in Julen Lopetegui, and are now seeking to give him all the told he needs to hit the ground running.

Three players have officially joined West Ham thus far this summer, and three more could soon be arriving in the coming days.

As one of the best players outside the English top flight last term, Summerville certainly looks like he’ll be an outstanding acquisition for the Hammers.

The 22-year-old has made 89 competitive appearances for Leeds, registering 25 goals and 12 assists.

The “outstanding” talent – in Daniel Farke’s words – really came to the fore last season, with 21 goals and 10 assists from 49 outings in all competitions.

Summerville’s efforts for Leeds in the league earned him the Championship Player of the Season award in April.

As per The Express, his style of play has been compared to that of Senegal international and former Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
