Rangers Women have announced that striker Jane Ross has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension in Glasgow.

The Light Blues announced in an official statement on Friday (28 June) that the 34-year-old Scottish international had penned a new deal in Glasgow to take her into her fourth season as a Light Blues player.

Despite missing large portions of last season, Ross managed to score 13 goals and lay on four assists in 23 appearances to help fire Jo Potter’s side to a cup double as they lifted the Sky Sports Cup and the Scottish Cup.

As quoted by Rangers TV, she said: “I am over the moon, I am delighted to be extending my stay here at the club. I am really happy here, obviously it has been a challenging couple of years for me personally through injury.

“I was happy to get back on the pitch last season and contribute to the team and I am looking forward to getting a good pre-season under my belt this year and hopefully help again this season.”

Will Rangers Women beat Celtic Women to the Scottish Women’s Premier League title?

The last couple of years may have been really difficult for Ross, but she showed when she returned to the side last season that when she is fully fit and firing, she can be a real difference-maker at the top end of the pitch.

Ultimately, the gap between the Gers and Celtic at the top of the table couldn’t have been much closer and had Ross been available for the entirety of the campaign, her goals could have been the difference in the title race.

Potter and her recruitment team have wasted no time getting to work to restructure and add to her side this summer with a number of big signings and she will be hoping her team can go one better next season.

There will more than likely be a fair few more additions made between now and the start of the season and the Gers will be hoping that nobody looks to poach their brightest talents.
