Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore would benefit from a loan move to a Championship side next season, according to Alan Hutton.

The 16-year-old has quickly become one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the Lilywhites academy in recent years and his talent has been recognised by Ange Postecoglou who handed him his Premier League debut against Manchester City.

Moore broke the record as Spurs’ youngest-ever player in the Premier League and has continued to go from strength to strength on the international stage, impressing supporters with his remarkable displays at the Under-17s Euros.

Although Hutton believes some players, like Phil Foden, are capable of being thrown straight into a first-team side without a loan move, he admits that a move to England’s second tier this season would aid Moore’s development.

“A lot of the youngsters were getting game time towards the end of the season,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“They will have got a feel for what it is all about, they’re in among the first team, training with them and I think that is a good thing to a certain extent.

“The prime example and he’s a world-class player is Phil Foden. He didn’t go out on loan, he stayed and learned from the players around him and the manager and really skyrocketed to the next level.

“That was kind of a one-off and it doesn’t always work that way so I think in terms of Moore, to go to a team who like to play football, enjoy having the ball and have an opportunity to get promoted in the Championship can always help.

“Tottenham used to do it when I was there, the likes of Andros Townsend when I was there went out on five, six, seven or eight loans to get that experience, so I like the idea of youngsters going out and doing that.”

Will Tottenham let Mikey Moore leave during the summer transfer window?

Although Moore is quite clearly highly thought of at Spurs, there has been little to suggest that he will be a regular starter week in and week out under Postecoglou in the Premier League next season.

The Australian is eager to strengthen his attacking options over the summer transfer window, with a new centre-forward understood to be on the agenda after Timo Werner extended his loan spell by another year.

With further signings expected, Moore is likely to slip further down the pecking order. He will likely gain a lot more from playing with a club fighting it out at the top of the Championship than he will if he plays youth team football in North London.

If Spurs do decide to sanction a temporary move this summer, you would imagine they won’t be short of suitors willing to take him on loan.
