Alan Myers issues Everton transfer update on 3 more mooted new signings

Everton could yet sign a pair of wingers and another central midfielder this summer, according to Alan Myers.

Communicating with a Toffees fan on Twitter on 5 July the Sky Sports journalist indicated that some of the potential new arrivals the club might be looking at were positive ones, and suggested a further trio of incoming deals weren’t off the table.

Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche have so far brought in one midfielder in Tim Iroegbunam, got winger Jack Harrison back from Leeds United on loan, then bought the versatile attacker Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille.

Asked about what he’d heard of possible transfers Myers said: “There’s a few who’d I’d like.”

To the specific enquiry of buying two wingers and a midfielder he added: “I wouldn’t rule any of that out [to be honest].”

Everton look to add more after Iliman Ndiaye signing

The Toffees transfer window may have developed more positively so far than would have been feared late last season but this is still a thin squad.

Dyche has also lost depth in the form of Andre Gomes, whose contract expired along with Dele Alli, and sold both Ben Godfrey and Lewis Dobbin.

Amadou Onana’s exit looks to be part of the plan this summer as well [Myers, 14 June] and the Belgian international isn’t short of interest in the Premier League and Europe, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation might necessitate his departure just as it did Godfrey’s.

So there absolutely is a need to land various additional reinforcements, with Jaden Philogene a potential addition on the wing and a decision on his future imminent [Fabrizio Romano, 3 July] and talks held for Celtic star Matt O’Riley in midfield [HITC, 2 July] amid ongoing interest in Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.

Some potential Toffees targets have been given a positive billing.
Everton could make a trio of further incoming moves.

Financially there appears to be reasonable room to do business now that the 30 June cut off for the previous accounting period has been passed, but fees brought in from sales would make signings easier.

Dyche and Thelwell will surely still need to have an eye on low-cost additions where available and it appears work is under way.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have tabled a transfer bid for a new defensive addition.
