Wenham moots Tottenham to recall loanee in January amid 'Frustrating' developments

John Wenham has speculated that Tottenham could recall Dane Scarlett from his loan with Oxford United in January.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose finds it “frustrating” that the striker has been sent to another club where he isn’t playing.

Scarlett has played just 119 minutes in all competitions since moving to Oxford United on loan.

Therefore, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – wants the 20-year-old to be sent elsewhere in January.

“I am constantly defending Scarlett,” Wenham said.

“Whenever he goes away with the England youth groups, he scores. Therefore, I just find this situation really frustrating.

“I know Scarlett is a really good player, he just needs the right club where he is going to play. Therefore, to have loaned him somewhere once again where he isn’t playing is frustrating.

“We can only keep going with this situation until January, and if he is to be recalled, he needs to be sent to a club where he is going to start. If he is given game time, he will score.”

Not long after Scarlett joined Oxford United, Wenham shared a “massive concern” about the Englishman’s move to the EFL Championship Club.

And it doesn’t look as if things have gotten any better for Scarlett. Therefore, Ange Postecoglou and Spurs will surely be considering their options.

There is no use in having a talented young player out on loan with a club where he isn’t playing. As a result, recalling Scarlett and sending him elsewhere might be the best solution, something which the club could look to do with another talented youngster, although for very different reasons.
