Ianis Hagi is set to leave Rangers permanently before the window shuts, according to Philippe Clement.
Speaking to the media ahead of the UEFA Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv, Clement revealed that talks had been held with the Romanian and his agent at the start of the window.
Recently, the 25-year-old was dropped to the B Team – a move that all but sealed his fate – and now the manager has gone on record to confirm it, as reported by Joshua Barrie.
He will follow a number of players who have left this summer, including Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, among others.
Rangers must bring in a new right winger to replace Ianis Hagi
The departure of the Romanian from Ibox necessitates the acquisition of a new right winger to maintain the team’s competitiveness.
Hagi, despite his potential, struggled to consistently deliver the desired impact on the pitch, and his recent demotion to the B Team indicates a lack of confidence in his abilities from the coaching staff.
A new right winger would inject fresh energy and creativity into the team, providing a reliable outlet on the flank and contributing to the overall attacking play.
This is crucial for Rangers, especially as they aim to compete domestically and in European competitions.
Moreover, the departure of the 25-year-old, coupled with the need for squad depth and rotation, underscores the importance of securing a replacement.
A new signing would not only fill the void left by Hagi but also bring a different set of skills and attributes, potentially enhancing the team’s tactical flexibility and attacking options.
In other Rangers news, the club are locked in a transfer battle as they aim to bring an English striker to Ibrox on a free transfer.
