Confirmed: English club want to sign 'Brilliant' Rangers sensation permanently

Rangers defender Johnly Yfeko has impressed Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell on loan this season.

The former Celtic defender, who’s now in charge of the EFL League One outfit, has admitted that he’s keen on signing the 21-year-old permanently.

Exter have the option to buy Yfeko, a centre-back who’s also capable of playing as a left-back.

Caldwell said, via the Daily Record: “Johnly is a young player with a huge future and if we could tie him down to be a permanent player at this club, then I think it would be a brilliant thing to do.

“Those discussions will happen and hopefully, that will be a thing where we can bring him into the club on a permanent basis because he is a brilliant player and a player with a huge future.”

Rangers fans will be hoping the club get a good fee for Johnly Yfeko

Yfeko’s performance on loan at Exeter has evidently captured the attention of the club hierarchy, particularly Caldwell.

His public endorsement of the 21-year-old, highlighting his potential and desirability for a permanent move, suggests a strong inclination towards securing the young defender’s services beyond his loan spell.

Given Exeter’s option to buy, this statement from Caldwell not only reflects confidence in Yfeko’s abilities but also hints at an impending permanent transfer.

For Rangers fans, while losing a promising talent like the Englishman might be disappointing, the silver lining lies in the financial aspect.

If Exeter exercise their option, the Ibrox outfit stand to make a transfer fee, which could be significant considering Yfeko’s age, versatility and the glowing reviews from his time in League One.

This sale may provide the club with some funds to sign promising youngsters who could one day be first-team players.
