Rangers could be set to lose more of their behind-the-scenes team after the exit of Creag Robertson, according to Keith Jackson.

The Gers’ director of football operations is set to serve a notice period [Scottish Daily Mail, 9 October, page 69) with an announcement on his future thought to be imminent..

Robertson’s departure is the next name of many added to a long list of Rangers chiefs who have exited recently, with CEO James Bisgrove, academy director Zeb Jacobs, and most recently chairman John Bennett all exiting.

And Jackson thinks he might not be the last to depart Irbox.

“I don’t know what happened with this one [Creag Robertson leaving], I’m not sure if he was somehow getting the blame for what happened with (Hamza) Igamane and the missing visa, it seems that spinning plates is the order of the day now,” Jackson said on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (9 October).

“I don’t know if someone let a plate slip for that one and cop the blame, maybe if you’re in any of these positions right now you’re looking for a way out because there’s too much work getting thrown at you, there’s not enough stability and order around the place”.

Rangers need to get their act together before January

The Gers have been under some major scrutiny this season for multiple reasons.

One of those being a mixed bag in terms of recruitment in the summer transfer window and another being their underwhelming performances on the pitch.

The upheaval off the pitch is not helping matters much and there needs to be a long-term successor plan following Bennett’s departure for health reasons.

Philippe Clement knows that his team can be better than third in the Scottish Premiership but, unless things behind the scenes become more stable, it’s unlikely that progress will be made.

John Gilligan has confirmed to Sky Sports (24 September) that the Gers will have money to spend in January to help bolster their ranks but that won’t mean much if they don’t get their act together soon.

And, the fact that Jackson believes more behind-the-scenes figures could be on their way out of Ibrox should be cause for concern for Gilligan as he continues his search for a permanent Rangers CEO.
