Confirmed: Everton Women star agrees new contract extension at Walton Hall Park

Everton Women have announced that goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract until the end of 2026.

The Toffees shared in an official announcement on Friday (28 June) that the 28-year-old has extended her stay at Walton Hall Park, taking her into a fourth season at the club.

Brosnan was named the 2023/24 Players’ Player of the Season, having made the most saves (95) in the Women’s Super League during a sensational campaign in between the sticks.

Speaking to EvertonTV, she said: “I’m really excited to be continuing as an Everton player. I think everyone knows how much this club, the players and the fans mean to me.

“To put on the Everton shirt is incredibly special. Having the opportunity to continue to do that was so important to me. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and I’ve created a lot of great memories with the girls and the fans, and hopefully that continues over the coming years.”

Brian Sorensen will be extremely pleased to have Brosnan sign a new deal at Walton Hall Park, having played an instrumental part in the 2023/24 campaign.

The Toffees finished in eighth place in the league table, 17 points above safety and 27 points away from the top three teams, seeing them cement themselves in the Women’s Super League.

With Sorensen also putting pen to paper on a new deal as manager, the club will be hoping that Everton Women can build on a decent season and become even more successful next term.

While some may have been disappointed with the league standing, the Toffees showed their class in the Women’s FA Cup, having easily bypassed Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest 3-0 and 7-1, respectively.

Their cup journey came to an end following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, who would eventually go on to lift the Women’s Super League title over Manchester City on a dramatic final day of the season.

The team showed plenty of grit and determination, factors that will be taken into the following season, especially with Brosnan tied down to a new deal at Walton Hall Park.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have started a move for Armando Broja after a new Chelsea transfer development.
