Confirmed: Rangers announce new contract for young goalkeeper at Ibrox

Rangers have announced that young goalkeeper Lewis Budinauckas has committed to the club until 2025 with a new contract.

The 22-year-old spent the last season on loan at Stranraer where he made 29 League Two appearances, conceding 43 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Budinauckas previously had loan spells with Raith Rovers and Civil Service Strollers.

Writing on X, the club said: “Rangers Academy can today announce Lewis Budinauckas has signed a contract extension until summer 2025.”

It’s a busy summer for Rangers

Rangers are shaking things up this summer, mixing experienced signings with fresh, young talent. Connor Barron’s arrival from Aberdeen is a big move for the 21-year-old midfielder, who’s now aiming to make his mark under Philippe Clement at Ibrox.

He’s just one of several new faces joining the Gers. Oscar Cortes, back on loan from Lens with a future obligation to buy, brings speed and creativity to their attack, while Clinton Nsiala’s arrival beefs up their defence.

But the action doesn’t stop there. Rangers are eyeing more additions, like Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane and Bayern Munich’s Yusuf Kabadayi, despite interest from Turkish clubs.

It is very important that the club keeps hold of its brightest talent, as well as making these new signings though, so this is always great to see at Auchenhowie.

Budinauckas will now look to breakthrough in this next year and work closely with the likes of Jack Butland.
