Confirmed: Rangers star ruled out for 5-6 weeks with 'Really Bad Injury'

Nicolas Raskin has been ruled out for between five and six weeks for Rangers after the ankle injury he suffered in pre-season, Philippe Clement has confirmed.

Speaking to Rangers TV (19 July), the boss revealed the Belgian midfielder suffered an ankle injury during the 2-1 defeat with Ajax which left him in a protective boot [Chris Jack, 13 July].

And tests have revealed the 23-year-old will now miss the start of the season, with Clement admitting he thought the injury was actually worse than that.

“I expected it to be worse if I saw him straight after the game but still it is a really bad injury, bad timing also because we are going to miss him in the beginning of the season that is clear,” he said,

Rangers injury curse strikes again

Another season, and another injury crisis for Rangers has hit and the actual campaign hasn’t even started yet.

The 2023/24 season was littered with horrible injury problems and Clement being forced to pick a squad from the bare bones of whatever was left, often with youngsters involved or senior players out of position.

Clement made some behind-the-scenes appointments this summer to try and combat those injury problems by improving the medical department [Rangers Review, 15 July], but he’s still not getting the luck he needs.

The tackle that Raskin was dealt was just a poor one, especially in a pre-season friendly, and it’s just poor luck that he will now miss a chunk of the opening weeks.

This was Raskin’s chance to try and cement himself in the team after a tough few months at the end of the last season, but he won’t get that now and Clement will once again have to find a new solution.
