'Crazy' - Wenham thrilled as Tottenham seal 'Amazing' transfer ahead of Manchester City

John Wenham has hailed Tottenham for getting the signing of Luka Vušković across the line.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is amazed that the North London club were able to sign the defender ahead of Manchester City.

Vušković will join Tottenham in 2025 after he turns 18, with Spurs having paid £12million to sign him from Hajduk Split, while Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were also rumoured to have shown interest (Evening Standard, 25 September 2023).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels the 17-year-old is set for big things.

“He seems to score in every single game he plays,” he said.

“He’s on a crazy trajectory. As a result, the likes of Manchester City and PSG must be thinking ‘How did we let Spurs sign him ahead of us?’”

“It was an amazing bit of business by Tottenham and the whole club deserves huge credit for getting a deal over the line.”

It isn’t clear just how much interest City showed in Vušković. However, if they showed even the slightest sign that they wanted to sign the Croatian, Spurs deserve a lot of credit for beating them to the player.

In addition, just seeing the calibre of clubs linked with the centre-back will demonstrate to fans just how talented this player is. Therefore, Spurs supporters should be very excited about the arrival of Vušković.

However, Ange Postecoglou will have a decision to make on the youngster.

Vušković is currently on loan from Hajduk Split with Westerlo in Belgium, where he is making quite an impression. However, English football is a big step up, which has led to claims the defender might struggle.

As a result, Postecoglou will need to take a look at the player next summer and decide if he is ready, with a potential loan to the Championship having been speculated if he isn’t.
