England star Curtis Jones has taken to social media to post a ‘behind the scenes’ image of him and teammate Anthony Gordon.
Jones, 23, capped an impressive England debut with a cheeky backheel to round off the scoring in their comfortable 3-0 UEFA Nations League win over Greece.
The Liverpool midfielder was one of five players drafted in as emergency backup after nine players, including Foden, withdrew from Lee Carsley’s last squad as interim manager.
Curtis Jones and Anthony Gordon loving life with England
With Thomas Tuchel due to take over in the new year, Jones has given him a serious decision to make in a side filled with superstars.
Gordon, 23, also featured in the win over Greece but failed to make any notable impact before being substituted in the 66th minute for debutant Morgan Rogers.
Gordon, proud of his teammate and friend, snapped a photo of Jones holding his first cap. In response, Jones shared a ‘behind the scenes’ image on Instagram.
Jones has every right to believe he has earned his second England start for their next UEFA Nations League game against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday (November 17).
With the international break due to end after that game, attention will return to the Premier League with Liverpool sitting five-points clear at the top.
