Cyriel Dessers could be target for Rangers exit in final days of window - report

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers could emerge as a target for Cagliari in the final days of the transfer window, according to Soccernet.

The Nigerian outlet has reported that the attacker is not currently an option for the Italians after they moved to sign Roberto Piccoli.

That could change in the final days of the window though, with Gianluca Lapadula potentially leaving.

It comes after Tutto Mercato Web reported on August 10 that Dessers was a target for Cagliari, who could accelerate their move very shortly.

Cyriel Dessers to leave Rangers?

At first glance, this wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows at Ibrox.

But looking at things deeper, a late exit would not leave much time to replace the striker, who Philippe Clement has relied upon heavily since he arrived in Glasgow.

Danilo has suffered injuries regularly and can’t be trusted to play every single week at this stage, leaving options very limited.

Clement and Nils Koppen will consider all of those options, as they continue their rebuild.

Whilst the likes of Scott Wright are starting every week for Rangers, that area needs to be looked at much closer before someone like Dessers is allowed to leave.

Jose Cifuentes looks to be next to leave Ibrox, with a £4million-plus obligation included in a loan move to Aris Thessaloniki agreed upon [BN Sports].

Things may change between now and the end of the window, but some serious incomings are needed to challenge for silverware and the Champions League, forget mass sales for now.
