Dan Bardell: Ange faces Tottenham problem after latest confirmed transfer news

Dan Bardell believes Tottenham have too many attacking options to choose from after signing Wilson Odobert from Burnley.

Spurs confirmed the signing of the 19-year-old on 16 August for a fee in the region of £25million [BBC Sport].

This deal came out of the blue and means the Lilywhites now have eight options for Ange Postecoglou to choose from in his forward lines.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell doesn’t think Odobert was needed in North London given the wealth of attacking players at the club already.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “When he did play for Burnley last season he looked lively.

“He feels like a Spurs and Postecoglou type player but they’ve just got loads of attacking options now. It is hard to see where everyone is going to fit in. They’ve got a lot of bodies in that area.

“You’ve got Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski already wanting that position on the right on top of Timo Werner and Richarlison who will want minutes.

“That’s a lot of traffic to get into that Spurs team. They probably didn’t need to recruit in attacking positions.“

Wilson Odobert set for difficult Tottenham spell

The France U21 international had a tough campaign at Burnley last season as they were relegated from the Premier League without putting up much of fight.

In his debut season at Turf Moor, the winger made 33 appearances and scored just four goals for Vincent Kompany’s side.

It has to be said that at 19, there is plenty of room to grow for the wide man and under Postecoglou he could become an excellent top-division operator.

It may prove to be a difficult journey for Odobert, who will find himself at the bottom of the pile at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the start of his career there.

With all the options that are available, it will be interesting to see how Spurs line up and how their squad looks throughout the campaign.
