Dan Bardell: Tottenham back-up set for more minutes in 24/25 after 'Top class' developments

Dan Bardell has suggested Radu Dragusin will feature more for Tottenham Hotspur next season after his performances for Romania at EURO 2024.

The defender has caught the attention for his country with some terrific showings where he has kept one clean sheet and conceded two.

He signed for Spurs in January and featured sparingly but has shone at the tournament regardless, so far this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes that the 22-year-old will only get better as he moves into his second season in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “He’s a player who has come in knowing that he’s third choice at Tottenham.

“I think he was very aware of that before coming in. Spurs are in Europe next season and have had their injury issues so Dragusin will get his fair share of minutes next season.

“He’s a player who is going to get better and will be aware of the circumstances and back himself to break into the team.

“He has been top class for Romania, he is a great athlete and has a lot of positive traits for a centre-back.“

After signing from Genoa in January, the defender didn’t play much as Micky Van de Ven and Christian Romero were favoured.

This wasn’t anything against Dragusin given the level that the duo were performing at under Ange Postecoglou last season.

He hasn’t let this affect him and has shown why Spurs signed him with his performances in the EUROs for Romania, especially against Ukraine.

Two blocks and ten clearances [FotMob] were representative of his performance which was only made better by keeping a clean sheet.

What may affect him is that Tottenham will have more of the ball in Premier League games than Romania have in their EUROs run.

It will take a great effort for him to displace the likes of Van de Ven and Romero in the starting XI given their importance.

Dragusin will have to bide his time but with two cups, league and European football, opportunities will be there for him next campaign.
