Dan Friedkin could make 'extremely high-profile' manager appointment at Everton – report

Everton and Dan Friedkin could look to bring Jose Mourinho to Goodison Park in an “extremely high-profile” move to replace Sean Dyche, according to TBR Football.

The online outlet reported on 12 October that the soon-to-be new owners are intent on making a statement appointment once they officially take charge at Goodison Park.

Friedkin is said to be making use of intermediaries already to hire a potential successor to Dyche [Fabrizio Romano, 26 September], whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

The Californian previously worked with Mourinho at Roma after hiring him in 2021 and looks to be keen on reuniting with the Portuguese in an extremely ambitious move on Merseyside.

Plenty of potentially definitive on-field events could take place at Goodison Park before Friedkin can take hold of the reins after his takeover, but it seems that Dyche will be on borrowed time regardless.

The Toffees’ start to the season will have understandably given Friedkin cause to seek out replacements for the 53-year-old, whose side sits sixteenth in the Premier League having won just one game so far.

However, with Mourinho of all managers being sought out for a possible future hire, it’s clear that Friedkin’s ownership being given the green light could coincide with a glut of new signings too.

The ‘Special One’ is currently in charge of Fenerbahce, but another crack at English football may tempt him, especially with how his spells at Tottenham and Manchester United ended.

Making such a sweeping change regardless of form would be a huge statement of intent from Friedkin, and it remains to be seen just how long Dyche will be given to save his job.

In other Everton news, one forgotten Goodison Park man has seen his long-awaited international debut delayed by red tape.
