The Friedkin Group have started to make a “succession plan” for Sean Dyche at Everton after their takeover was completed two weeks ago, according to TEAMtalk.
The online outlet reported via their website (30 December) that among other candidates, David Moyes and Graham Potter are the two “main” ones that the Friedkins have looked at regarding a replacement for Sean Dyche.
In terms of Potter, the former Chelsea boss is being “picky” about where his next move lies and is more likely to make the switch to West Ham if Julen Lopetegui is sacked whereas Moyes would be “much more open” to a Goodison Park return, TEAMtalk’s report said.
Everton could do a lot worse than David Moyes
Although it doesn’t seem likely that Dyche is going to be relieved of his duties before the end of the season, the fact that names such as Potter and Moyes are being thrown around is nothing but good news for the Merseyside outfit.
At the moment, they’re currently sitting 16th in the Premier League and while they’re not in the relegation zone, it feels like things could be better.
To be fair to the former Burnley boss, he’s done a rather impressive job at Goodison Park since he took over but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season and with no rumours of a renewal yet, things aren’t looking too good for the Englishman, even if the Friedkins are happy with his performance so far.
Moyes is a European winner and could bring a new lease of life to Goodison Park and, if we are being honest, already knows the club more than well enough to hit the ground running instantly and know exactly what it means to be the manager of Everton.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are eyeing a move for a Newcastle United star with a January exit likely.
