Bryan King has blasted Tottenham supporters for throwing paper at Chelsea players during the 4-3 Premier League thriller on Sunday.
The ex-Spurs scout believes behaviour from fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 8 December was “quite ridiculous”, with this not the only controversial incident on the day.
As reported by The Mirror [8 December], the FA is understood to be investigating the incident which could lead to Tottenham receiving a fine, which would only compound the club’s current misery.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think the North London side could have many complaints if they were to be fined.
“Totally unnecessary, I thought Spurs supporters would know better than that,” King said.
“One minute it is paper, what else is going to be thrown? Whether it is paper or a bottle, it is all the same. It is unnecessary, and the perpetrators should be escorted out of the ground. There is no need to throw things at players or officials.
“Why do they do it? I have no idea. This could cause Tottenham to receive a fine from the FA now. I don’t adhere to that kind of behaviour at all, it is quite ridiculous. You want the play to continue and for 60 seconds they’re having to pick things up.
“It is one thing to shout at players, it is another thing to start throwing objects onto the field of play. That was disrespectful to Tottenham Football Club and Chelsea.”
Tottenham to be fined by the Football Association?
It hasn’t been the easiest couple of weeks for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham. Therefore, the last thing the club need is to receive an unnecessary fine.
Losing to Chelsea is already frustrating enough. However, if the club are now to be fined due to poor behaviour from select individuals, it will only make matters worse.
Ahead of kick-off, the tifo displayed in Spurs’ south stand looked quite fantastic. However, after what fans did, who knows if the club will be allowed to make such a display again.
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou could be in trouble after what Daniel Levy did in the defeat to Chelsea.
