Everton defender Nathan Patterson will not be starting the next two games even if he makes an early return from injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that as it’s been out for months with what appears to be a hamstring rupture, he will have to be eased back into the side.
The Toffees take on Aston Villa next in the Premier League and Southampton in the EFL Cup after that.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Patterson:
“If the late September timeline holds, then sensible strides at this point would be getting him close to on-pitch training and football-specific movements, particularly starting to test his hamstring on sprints.
“He’s been out for months with his likely hamstring rupture so it’s all about assessing as you go.
“I don’t see him starting the next two games at least even if fit.“
Nathan Patterson’s return would be beneficial for Everton
Patterson has struggled with form and fitness since moving to Goodison Park from Rangers.
However, given the struggles at the back this season, Sean Dyche will be looking forward to having him back in action as soon as possible.
Unlike Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman, he’s got the better part of his career ahead of him and that’s undoubtedly a positive.
In other Everton news, a claim has emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked after what happened at Goodison Park.
