Doctor View: Everton should manage minutes carefully as new attacker transfer confirmed

Everton should ideally manage Jesper Lindstrom’s minutes initially to avoid injury risks, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as the Premier League is more intense than Serie A, it will take the 24-year-old some time to adapt.

The Toffees secured the signing of the Denmark international on a season-long loan in this window.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Lindstrom:

“They will have to be very methodical with his strength and conditioning plan, particularly as it relates to sprint distance and quantity, and then build up his minutes gradually.

“It also depends on how many minutes he gets under his belt in pre-season and whether or not the physios give him the green signal.

“Ideally, he’d be better off as a substitute, building up his fitness and adaptability.“

Everton likely to ease Jesper Lindstrom into the eleven

The Toffees should not expect Lindstrom to play 90 minutes in each game immediately as he is still to adapt to the Premier League, which is more physically demanding compared to Serie A.

Secondly, he had a challenging season with Napoli, which might have affected his match fitness and confidence.

Everton should gradually increase his playing time to prevent injuries and allow him to settle into the team.
