'Don't be surprised': Journalist has transfer update which is 'probably not' what Arsenal fans wanted to hear

Mikel Arteta is probably running on zero hours sleep right now as the final few days in the window could prove crucial in Arsenal’s season.

Most of the rumours circulating all seem rather unrealistic given how late in the window we are, as Arsenal are unlikely to splash huge money.

However, with Eddie Nketiah on his way to Crystal Palace for £30 million there may be some funds made available.

But, knowing Edu and Mikel Arteta, they won’t want to spend money on just anyone, as any potential signings will have to fit the right criteria and actually improve the squad.

Everyone loves a striker signing as goals win you games some may say, but in Arsenal’s case there seems to be very little to cheer about on that front, according to Kaya Kaynak.

Arsenal forward transfer is now looking unlikely

Fabrizio Romano revealed Arsenal’s desire to sign a forward recently, which will no doubt have offered fans with some hope.

However, when providing an update on the Gunners’ current transfer situation in a Q&A for Football London, Kaya Kaynak had this to say.

“I’m guessing you’re asking about a forward. In which I case I do envision a world where Arsenal don’t bring in a forward between now and deadline day. That’s probably not what you want to hear, but the club are at least working to bring one in.

“Their stance is it’s better to have no one than have the wrong player, but they have been keeping tabs on targets all summer, so don’t be surprised if a name does pop out of the woodwork between now and Friday night.”

What signings could Arsenal actually be chasing?

Well, it depends who you listen to really.

There could be potential opportunities in the market with Fabrizio Romano stating Kingsley Coman could be the perfect solution for Arsenal.

You’ve also got the potential departure of Aaron Ramsdale with Arsenal still making demands in that situation, which is why the Gunners have been looking at signing Sam Tickle.

So, there is likely to be an incoming for the Gunners but it could end up being a really low profile one like a third goalkeeper, which certainly won’t excite many fans.
