'Embarrassing, Delusion' - Sutton & Boyd can't believe what Clement just said after Rangers loss

Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton have blasted Philippe Clement for his post-match interview after Rangers lost 2-1 at Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

Clement’s men are now nine points behind second-placed Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership table after Shayden Morris’ 74th-minute goal consigned the Gers to their third league defeat of the campaign.

After the match, Clement told Sky Sports Football that he believed he witnessed one of his side’s best performances of the season.

Ex-Rangers striker Boyd hit back, telling Sky Sports Football (10:22pm, 30 October): “It’s just excuses. The longer this goes on, the more excuses come out.

“They’ve lost three of the opening 10 and it’s not good enough.

“Rangers have spent an absolute fortune and they are worse in every position – they’ve downgraded in every position.”

Ex-Celtic striker Sutton agreed with Boyd and took aim at Clement for his comments.

“It’s not embarrassing from Big Phil – well, it is embarrassing – but it’s more delusion,” he said. “What is he talking about?”

Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis added: “If I was a Rangers fan, that’s probably the most worrying thing I’ve seen today.”

Will Rangers sack Philippe Clement?

Let’s face it, Michael Beale made a mess of things but Clement is really challenging the likes of him and Pedro Caixinha for the title of the most embarrassing Rangers manager in recent history.

If it’s not the awful performances on the pitch, it’s the excuses and the nonsensical things he says and does in press conferences.

If he came out and admitted it wasn’t good enough and that he’s trying to find a way to fix things, then Rangers fans will at least understand that.

Instead, the Belgian is talking down to supporters as though they’ve been kicked in the head by a horse between the full-time whistle and his post-match interview. Does he really think people have forgotten what they just witnessed?

The Gers were on top after half-time but they were dreadful in the first half and mustered just one shot on target throughout the game, and that was their goal.

Sacking managers every year shouldn’t be a habit a club falls into but Clement is really testing the patience of everyone at Ibrox right now.
