Everton ace could be tempted to sign new deal amid takeover latest - report

Everton are hopeful the arrival of Dan Friedkin can persuade Jarrad Branthwaite to sign a new contract, according to HITC.

The online source reported [25 September] that the Toffees are prepared to make the 22-year-old one of the club’s highest-paid earners, should he agree to extend his deal, which currently runs until 2027.

Branthwaite was the subject of interest from Manchester United, though they were unwilling to meet the Toffees’ asking price, while Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the defender [HITC].

Jarrad Branthwaite to sign new deal at Everton after Dan Friedkin takeover?

With it being understood Friedkin’s takeover could be completed within six to eight weeks [The Guardian, 24 September], the Toffees will be keen to tie their star defender down to a new deal.

Sean Dyche has been without the 22-year-old so far this season due to injury, and that has shown on the pitch as the Toffees sit one point above the bottom of the Premier League table.

Everton’s defensive record was lauded last season, with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool conceding fewer times in the league, but they now have the joint-worst record with Wolves.

While it is unfair to suggest Branthwaite’s unavailability has caused this massive decline in form, he is certainly missed in the backline, so it is difficult to think about another team signing him in the future.

It is unlikely Everton will be able to keep hold of him forever, but putting pen to paper would allow the club to let him leave on their own terms, just like they did during the summer transfer window.

It all seems rather doom and gloom at Goodison Park right now, with the water rising around Dyche’s ankles, but Friedkin’s proposed takeover is a huge breath of fresh air, one that could persuade Branthwaite to stick around.

In other Everton news, Simon Jordan shared what he knows about Dan Friedkin’s wealth ahead of a takeover at Goodison Park.
