Everton eye January transfer for 26y/o attacker, £8.4m release clause emerges - report

Everton are interested in signing Silas Katompa Mvumpa during the January transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via X on Monday (7 October) that the winger could leave Red Star Belgrade, where he is on loan from VfB Stuttgart, during the winter transfer window.

Silas’ contract contains a release clause in the region of £8.4million [€10million] and the Toffees are understood to be interested in his services alongside La Liga giants Villarreal.

Any transfer received for the attacker will be given to Red Star, with Stuttgart set to receive between 10 and 15 per cent of any fee raised during the January transfer window.

Are Everton close to any new transfers ahead of the January window?

The summer transfer window may have only closed a matter of months ago, but it seems as though the Toffees are already putting their plans in place so that they can hit the ground running when the new year rolls around at Goodison.

Sean Dyche and his recruitment team will be desperate to bolster their attacking options as they look to climb away from the Premier League relegation zone and on the face of it, Silas would be an excellent addition.

The 26-year-old is playing Champions League football with Red Star and while he hasn’t managed to find the net in the first two matches of the group stage, he has been in reasonable form domestically so far.

Everton aren’t going to have loads of money to spend in January, despite new takeover developments at Goodison Park and are therefore going to have to operate shrewdly once again to secure some low-cost deals.

If Silas’ contract does have the £8.4million release clause that has been reported, a mid-season move could well be a gamble worth taking for the Toffees.
