Everton are now unbeaten in their last four Premier League games after holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Bernardo Silva’s effort took a deflection off Jarrad Branthwaite and looped into the far corner.
However, Everton equalised out of the blue on 36 minutes through Illiman Ndiaye, who skilfully controlled Abdoulaye Doucoure’s pass and volleyed past Stefan Ortega.
Neither side could find a winner in the second half, with Erling Haaland seeing a penalty saved by Jordan PIckford, while the follow-up was ruled out for offside.
While many Everton players impressed on the day, there were some that didn’t do quite so well.
For instance, Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggled somewhat before being replaced by Armando Broja in the 70th minute.
Everton fans went on to have their say about Calvert-Lewin’s display against Man City and what they would like to see against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Everton fans call for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be replaced by Armando Broja
Everton supporters, taking to social media during and after the game, urged Sean Dyche to start Broja ahead of Calvert-Lewin against the City Ground side.
“Has Dyche seen enough to drop DCL and start Broja? Broja has showed up and DCL hasn’t since Carlo Ancelotti,” wrote one fan.
Another said: “Broja has to start every game, there’s no debate, he’s a big difference maker up front for us and will keep improving.
“DCL offers barely anything anymore, needs to move on, same as Doucoure and Harrison should be replaced in the summer for a new winger who is much better.”
One wrote: “Need Broja to start for everton more, he’s been more like normal off the bench for them last few games, so clear of DCL.”
One fan said: “Broja did more in twenty minutes than DCL has done all season and deserves a start against Forest.”
And another supporter wrote: “Broja once again delivering more as a sub than DCL from the start. Must be in first 11 next game.”
Opposite number Erling Haaland also struggled as Man City fans criticised his efforts.
Calvert-Lewin and Broja ratings v Man City
Liverpool World gave Calvert-Lewin a 5 out of 10 rating and wrote: ‘Fed off scraps in the first half and his only chance came at the death when he headed well over from a corner.
‘Saw a bit more of the ball in the second period and gave City’s defence a couple of awkward moments before being subbed in the 70th minute.’
Meanwhile, Broja got a 7 out of 10 rating, with the outlet writing: ‘Was a real handful against a tiring City defence, with his pace and power causing problems.
‘Maybe should have made his mind up quicker during the late counter.’
The Liverpool Echo gave Calvert-Lewin a 6 out of 10 and wrote: ‘Laboured up front with not much sticking for him, despite his efforts.
‘It was perhaps fitting that his biggest contribution of the first half was not touching the ball by providing the dummy for Doucoure’s pass that enabled Ndiaye to equalise, even if his hard running often helped the visitors get the ball up the pitch and alleviate some pressure.’
Broja, meanwhile, got a 7 out of 10 as the outlet wrote: ‘Provided Everton with something different up front in the latter stages with his power causing problems and teed up Harrison for his last-gasp chance.’
